June 2010
WMBA Board of Directors voted to seperate house league and rep teams. No player making a WMB Rep Team will be allowed to play in the WMBA house league. This decision was reached by the Board to allow house league players the chance to better develop their skills in a fun non-competitive environment.

REP TEAM GUIDELINES - 2010-2011

As set out by the Welland Minor Basketball Association.

In the spirit of the game of basketball, its enjoyment, and with a primary focus on each individual’s skill improvement, all players participating as a member of a Welland Minor Basketball Association (WMBA) sponsored REP Team will NOT be able to participate in the WMBA house league.  This rule will be in effect for the Novice, Atom and Bantam divisions.

The following guidelines will be in place for all WMBA REP Teams:

  1. It is the WMBA intentions to field a REP Team at age specific groups’, however, should there not be enough players in a particular age group then one team within that division will be formed based on players skill levels and after review by the WMBA.
  1. All REP coaching staffs will be approved by the WMBA Board through recommendations from the WMBA     REP Team Committee.
  1. REP Team coaches will be responsible for choosing their respected players.
  1. All REP Team coaches will be responsible for balancing their REP Team budgets at the end of every year.  No cheques will be provided to a REP Team coach without proper receipts.
  1. An appointed Head Coach of a WMBA REP Team can only coach one WMBA Rep Team in a given year.  Any exceptions will be reviewed by the WMBA Rep Team Committee based on the WMBA’s needs.
  1. All WMBA Rep Team coaches will consent to police records checks prior to the start of the season.
  1. All WMBA REP Team try-outs will be open to any child wishing to sign up to participate in said try-outs.
  1. All players in the WMBA Rep Program will play at their specific age group.  Should a parent wish to have their child play at a higher age group then that parent will have to apply for this status change by filling out a WMBA Player Movement Form.  These forms can be found on the WMBA Web Site.
  1. A Player Assessment Committee assigned by the WMBA Board will handle any request for players to move up in age groups.
  1.  A player will only be allowed to move up in age if that player is deemed to have the appropriate skills sets to be one of the top 5 players on the team that they are moving up to.  This decision will be made by the Player Assessment Committee and their decision will be final.  No appeals will be granted!
  1.  No player will be allowed to move up out of their specific Age Group unless Novice Division if they are of that age unless there is NO team offered at the Novice Division.
  1.  Any player NOT making a WMBA REP Team will move to the WMBA House League to further develop their skills.
